Business Valuation Pricing
Business valuation fees vary depending on the purpose of the report, the size of the business, and the level of analysis required. The ranges below reflect typical engagements for privately held businesses in Manitoba.
Calculation Report
The least extensive scope of work under CBV Institute standards. The key numbers and assumptions are still supported, and industry and economic conditions are considered. Often suitable for internal planning, early discussions and many tax-driven files.
- Often suitable for internal planning
- Common for estate freezes and tax reorganizations
- Key inputs supported; industry and economy considered
- Most cost-effective CBV level of conclusion
- Faster turnaround in many cases
Estimate Report
A broader scope of review, inquiry and independent corroboration than a Calculation. Often appropriate when a buyer, lender, funder or partner will rely on the number.
- More independent corroboration than a Calculation
- Balanced option between cost and support
- Suited to sales, purchases, financing and buyouts
- Common in transaction preparation and planning matters
Comprehensive Report
Full independent valuation analysis with the highest level of documentation and support, generally reserved for more complex or higher-scrutiny matters.
- Deepest level of independent review
- Typically used where the report may be challenged
- Often appropriate for shareholder buyouts and major transactions
- Highest level of professional support
Valuations Prepared Under Recognized Professional Standards
Business valuations at Acadia Hill are prepared by an experienced Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) using recognized professional standards and accepted valuation methodologies.
Engagements are structured based on the purpose of the valuation, the information available, and the level of conclusion needed (Calculation, Estimate or Comprehensive). This ensures the scope of work is appropriate for the intended use of the report, whether the valuation is being used for internal planning, tax matters, financing discussions, or a sale.
Reports prepared in accordance with CBV Institute professional standards and accepted valuation methodologies.
Updated CBV standards for 2026
New CBV Institute practice standards apply to valuation engagements that begin on or after January 1, 2026. The three levels, Calculation, Estimate and Comprehensive, remain. Every level now calls for the valuator to support the significant inputs and assumptions, and even a Calculation has to consider the industry and the economy. The standards also add a quality review step and stronger documentation. Acadia Hill’s valuations follow the current standards.

Common Questions About Business Valuations
Standard engagements typically start at $4,000. Final pricing depends on the size and complexity of the business, the purpose of the report, and the information available. We discuss that with you up front and provide a fixed-fee quote before proceeding.
Many standard files are completed in approximately 15 business days after the requested information is received. Timing can vary depending on complexity and whether there is a specific deadline involved.
It depends on who will rely on the number and how closely it will be reviewed. A Calculation often suits internal planning and many estate freezes. An Estimate often suits a sale, a purchase, financing or a buyout. A Comprehensive scope suits complex businesses or matters that will be reviewed closely. We recommend a level during the free consultation, before any fee is agreed. For a full comparison, read our guide to Calculation, Estimate and Comprehensive reports.
